This program intended for residents of British Columbia who are currently receiving the Canada Emergency Relief Benefit (CERB). Also note that as your local Surrey Accountant, we do not have more information available other than what is publicly available.
B.C. Emergency Benefit for Workers
The BC Emergency Benefit for workers was meant to supplement and add-on to anyone currently receiving the CERB Benefit. The province of BC will be making a one time $1,000 tax free payment to those who are currently receive CERB benefits.
Eligibility
Please ensure you are qualify under the following rules:
- Must be a resident of British Columbia on March 15, 2020
- Have been approved for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit – Note that if you applied for EI, your EI may have also been auto approved for CERB and thus allow you to qualify for this benefit. Call 1-833-699-0299 if you wish to confirm with Service Canada.
- Must be 15 years old or older
- Not be receiving provincial income assistance or disability assistance
What you need to apply
To ensure a smooth process, ensure you have these 3 pieces of information ready to go before you apply:
- Your SIN#
- Your Direct deposit information (The benefit will ONLY be paid through direct deposit)
- An approved CERB Proof.
