As you are all aware, we live in a world where cyber security has become increasingly more important as we continue to digitize our lives. Unfortunately CRA is not immune to being hacked.

Note that as an important security notice, you may be receiving this email multiple times as we have sent this off to a number of different groups.

Here is CBC’s news release reflecting that 11,200 accounts were affected. Please take a quick read when you have a chance.

We’d like to encourage everyone for proper due diligence:

  1. Change your MyCRA Password (When you have a chance to do so)
  2. Confirm and check your direct deposit information. This has been a key source of what has been changed.

As a security measure CRA has subsequently shut down the CRA website for the entire weekend up until the time of this email writing. This ultimately affects us in helping you process various government claims as well as looking into specific tax information. We are also at the time unable to e-file tax returns, GST returns and payroll as this has all been blocked.
